BlueParrott B450-XT Bluetooth Headset

To begin our review list, we want to take a look at one of the absolute best Bluetooth headsets that is going to appear on our review list in the form of the BlueParrott B450-XT Bluetooth Headset.

This is one of the most expensive, but also most reliable and high-quality headsets that we are going to be reviewing as part of this review list. If you want to ensure that you always have crystal clear audio, a reliable connection, and great comfort when using your headset, then this one should and will be at the top of your list.

For starters, let’s cover the call quality that this headset affords you. We will explain later on in our buying guide the concept of noise reduction and why it is so important, but right now all you need to know is that B450-XT absolutely excels in this regard.

It has great noise cancelling features so that all you ever hear is the voice on the other side of the headset, and nothing else. This is also helped out by the fact that the general sound quality of the headset is fantastic.

This is also a pretty comfortable headset overall. This is another thing that we really want to stress the importance of. You will be wearing these headsets for long periods of time, so you want to make sure that wearing your headset isn’t going to give you sore ears or anything of that nature.

We could keep going on and on about the great features on the BlueParrott, but by now you probably have a good idea of just how well-crafted this headset is. It is the perfect companion for any trucker reading this article.

  • Pros
  • Great noise cancellation.
  • Amazing sound quality.
  • Fairly comfortable as far as headsets go.
  • Long range.
  • Maintains a strong connection no matter what.
  • Good battery life
  • Cons
  • One of the pricier headsets on our review list.

Newaroun Bluetooth Headset V5.0

If that last headset that we reviewed was just a bit too large and/or pricey for you, then this next headset that we are going to be reviewing may be a bit more up your alley.

The Newaroun Bluetooth Headset V5.0 is a small, inexpensive headset that is extremely easy to manage. If you need something that is easy to wear and that can be had on a budget, this is going to be the headset for you.

This is a very small, cheap headset. It sits easily on your head and because it weighs nothing at all, you will often forget that it is there overall. Likewise, its small size ensures that you never feel uncomfortable wearing it. At the same time, we also want to ensure that you understand that this isn’t a “cheap” headset, it has surprisingly decent audio quality.

There are two issues of varying severity that we want to mention in this review. First off, there is the fact that this is a fairly static headset and so there is no way to adjust the headset so that the actual mic is closer to your mouth.

The second issue has to do with the size of this headset. As we said earlier, the headset is very small, which can be a bonus in many instances, but it also means that you can quite easily lose this headset if you aren’t paying much attention; this becomes especially problematic if you have a really messy, dis-organized truck.

  • Pros
  • Small and comfortable
  • Easy to wear
  • Decent voice quality
  • Tangle-free cable
  • Good price
  • Cons
  • No way to move microphone closer to mouth
  • Small earpiece is very easy to lose in a large truck

Mpow HC5 V5.0 Bluetooth Headset

For the next product review on our best Bluetooth headset for truckers list, we want to do a review of a headset that is almost the complete opposite of the last one that we reviewed. In fact, we would say that the Mpow HC5 V5.0 Bluetooth Headset has a lot more in common with the BlueParrott headset that we reviewed at the start of our review list than any other headset we have taken a look at. It offers that great mixture of comfort, utility, and functionality that truckers need.

There are a lot of really good features that this headset has that make it worthy of being included on this list. For example, it has good noise cancellation. Those of you who have ben following along with our review list have a very good idea of just how highly we rate noise cancellation features and that is a big part of the reason why we are including this Mpow headset on our list in the first place.

Another great feature of this headset that we absolutely have to mention is how comfortable it is. We really can’t stress enough just how comfortable this headset is. Each ear has a nice amount of padding, which enables you to wear the headset for long periods of time with absolutely no discomfort.

  • Pros
  • Very good voice quality
  • Designed with comfort in mind
  • Top quality noise cancellation
  • Cons
  • Lacks a mute button, which can be annoying

TaoTronics Trucker Bluetooth Headset

Next up we want to review a fairly run of the mill headset in the form of the TaoTronics Trucker Bluetooth Headset.

This isn’t an especially fancy headset or anything like that, but it is moderately priced, and it delivers reliable performance.

So, you can probably see why we wanted to include it on this list and briefly discuss it. It is just a really solid headset that doesn’t have a lot of noticeable flaws (except for the fact that parts of it are a bit flimsy).

  • Pros
  • Moderately priced
  • Easy control system
  • Lightweight
  • Cons
  • A bit easy to snap

Plantronics Savi 8200 Series Wireless Headset

For the final review on this list, we are once again going to be taking a look at a really high-end headset in the form of the Plantronics Savi 8200 Series Wireless Headset.

If you are willing to pay the high price of entry for this headset, then you will find that you are getting an extremely good headset.

Everything about this headset is just extremely well-made, from the great sound quality to the high comfort level that it brings.

As we hinted at in the introduction to this review, the Plantronics Savi 8200 Series Wireless Headset is extremely expensive; so expensive in fact, that this is actually the priciest headset that we have reviewed on this list.

If you have the money to spare, then this is an amazing headset, but those of you who are on a budget will want to maybe get a different headset.

  • Pros
  • Delivers a high comfort level
  • Really strong connectivity
  • Extremely long battery life (34 hours)
  • Cons
  • The most expensive option hat we have reviewed on this list

Bluetooth Headset Buying Guide

In the second part of this article, we are going to be taking a look at how you should go about picking out a good Bluetooth headset all on your own. Now, this may sound like a strange thing to do, but the way that we see it, our article isn’t always going to be in date, and you may eventually have to buy a Bluetooth headset on your own without the aid of a review list like ours.

So, to help with this, we decided to do this buying guide to help complement the different reviews that we did above. In this buying guide, as you might be able to imagine, we are going to talk about all the various factors that you need to consider when it comes to buying a really good, reliable headset.

Battery Life

Given the large amount of time that truckers spend on the road, it only makes sense that one of the main things that you should be on the lookout for when it comes to buying a Bluetooth headset is battery life.

This can seem strange at first since you typically don’t prioritize battery life in something like this, but it is actually very important in this situation. This is because as we just said, truckers spend a ton of time on the road and they are in near constant contact with other trucks as well as HQ.

Given this fact, it would be extremely inconvenient to have to constantly disconnect to charge your Bluetooth headset. So, this is why you should always look for a headset that has a suitably long battery life. The longer the battery life, the better off that you will be.

While the absolute best battery life will depend heavily on your own personal preferences, but we would recommend a headset that has a battery life of at least 8 hours, if not more. On that note, you will also want to get a headset that charges relatively quickly, as that will be helpful as well.

If you read through our best Bluetooth headset for truckers review list, then you probably recall that we talked a lot about the comfort level of each headset.

This can seem very strange at the start because why would you care about how comfortable a headset is as long as it sounds good.

Well, consider that truckers will often be wearing these headsets for long periods of time with next to no break. If you have ever worn a headset for long periods of time before, then you know how uncomfortable it can get. This is especially true if you are using a headset without any sort of padding. It can cause extremely sore ears, headaches, and much more. So, investing in a comfortable Bluetooth headset can save you from a lot of pain down the line.

Connection Strength

Another very important thing to consider when buying a Bluetooth headset is how strong of a connection it is able to form with your phone and/or radio.

For those of you who don’t know how Bluetooth headsets work, they operate by forming a connection between the headset and whatever it is that you are using to talk, be that a phone or a radio.

If you have ever used a Bluetooth connection or any sort of wireless device before then you know that they can often lose connection quite easily. That is an extremely annoying issue and one that can even be dangerous if you happen to lose connection at the wrong time (think if you are driving and need to try and reconnect). So, it is of the utmost importance that you get a headset that maintains its connectivity.

Sadly, this is a bit easier said than done for the simple reason that not all headsets are built alike in this regard (some can be quite bad when it comes to losing connection) and it is nearly impossible to tell how good a headset is before you actually buy it and use it.

That is why reviews are so important when it comes to buying electronics. At the same time, we will say that there are some things that you can be on the lookout for that will tell you the quality of a Bluetooth headset, especially with regards to how well it maintains a connection. First off, there is the brand. More reputable, well-known brands are more likely to produce a high-quality headset that keeps a connection (Wilful and Blue Parrot are good brands to buy from). Secondly, there is the range of the headset.

While we will talk about range a bit later on in the buying guide, what we will tell you right now is that the range of a headset is usually a fairly decent indicator of the headset’s overall connection strength. The logic for why this is the case is quite simple; a headset that is able to maintain a long-distance connection (such as 100 meters) likely has a pretty strong and stable connection, since it needs that to maintain connectivity at long distances.

Sound Quality

It probably goes without saying that you want your headset to sound reasonably good. While you aren’t going to be listening to music with it or anything like that, you want to make sure that you can reliably hear whoever it is that is talking to you through the headset.

However, much like a few of the other categories that we have talked about on this buying guide, determining sound quality can be tricky because you can’t really tell how good or bad a particular headset sounds until you physically use it.

As always, the same general tips apply to sound quality that apply to those other categories (look for pricier headsets, ones from well-known brands, etc.).

Noise Cancellation

If we were to pick a single feature that a Bluetooth headset can have that we would consider to be the absolute most important feature, then it would absolutely have to be noise cancellation. We talked about this quite a lot on our review list, and for good reason, it is that important of a feature.

If you are curious as to why this feature is so important, the explanation is very simple. Trucking is a noisy business; when you are going down the highway at high speeds the combination of ambient noise from the wind and the cars is going to cause a lot of issues with hearing people in the headset and it can cause issues with them hearing you. Noise cancellation, assuming it is good enough, will fix both of these issues.

For the final part of this buying guide, we want to talk about range. Range is special because while it can be indicative of a high-quality headset, it isn’t particular important otherwise.
The reason for this is that truckers will always be in fairly close proximity to their phones and radios, so having a really high range on the headset just doesn’t end up being all that important. Still, some might find it important and so we decided to just give it a quick mention near the end of our buying guide for that reason.
